In Valchid in Romania, school children from Roma families with few educational opportunities and little family support for school are supported in an educational project. It started with the sponsorship of Christmas parcels. Parcels with useful and fun things are sent to Valchid every year during the Christmas season and distributed to the school children, when they are scholars at the school.

In addition, breakfast is offered to the children when they come to school. In order to expand the care of Roma children, in 2020 we financed the construction of a new room where the children will receive lunch every day when they do their homework there under supervision.  The offer of meals and space to do homework are often good reasons for families to let their children go to school. CFF has been sponsoring daily meals since the building was completed.

Our Goals

We would like to continue our support of the Christmas initiative. Christmas time should be a very special time of the year for children. We hope to spread a bit of cozy holiday spirit through the packages.

In particular, however, we would like to support the education of the children in Valchid. By offering meals, education of the children is partly possible in the first place. With afternoon care, school education can be further deepened by the completion of homework. We want to ensure the provision of lunch and thus the incentive for homework supervision in the long term. In addition, we are currently trying to finance an additional pedagogical assistant to support the homework supervision.
